Tinnitus Relief
Tinnitus affects about one in five people worldwide. In the US alone, that’s approximately 50 million people. Though tinnitus is not life-threatening, it can severely impact your quality of life and particularly the quality of your sleep. Often, the condition comes on quite suddenly. Sufferers may get frightened, thinking there’s something severely wrong with their body. But in most cases, the onset of tinnitus is simply due to aging or can be traced back to some event, illness, injury, lifestyle change or change in medications.
What is Tinnitus?
Tinnitus is the perceived sensation of hearing a sound that has no external source. It can come and go or it can be very persistent. It is not a disease within itself; instead, it is a symptom of an underlying condition. It may be the result of an ear or head injury. People sometimes experience tinnitus for a few days after a loud rock concert. In many cases, it is related to hearing loss experienced as we age. The basic complaint with tinnitus is that the patient constantly hears various types of phantom noises. These often include: Buzzing, Ringing, Hissing, Roaring, Clicking
How Can Sound Oasis Help My Tinnitus?
Sound Oasis Sound Therapy Systems provide proven tinnitus relief in a number of ways:
Masking and Reduced Contrast:
Carefully crafted Sound Oasis sounds (e.g. nature sounds, broadband noise, music or customized tones, etc.) partially or fully cover your tinnitus or lower the contrast against silence making your tinnitus less obvious.
Distraction:
By playing back pleasant or changing Sound Oasis sounds, your brain will focus less on your annoying tinnitus and more on the pleasant/changing sounds.
Habituating:
By playing low-level background or environmental Sound Oasis sounds at a level quieter or blended with your tinnitus, your brain is encouraged to reclassify your tinnitus signal as unimportant and thus “filter it out” over time.
Relaxation
Sounds and music have been proven to have a positive impact on health by reducing stress, lowering heart rates and reducing pain. Lowering stress has been shown to help reduce the intensity of tinnitus.

Pet Therapy
- 14 hrs - sleep a dog needs each day
- 16+ hrs - sleep a cat needs each day
- Sound Oasis - doctor developed, vet approved, pet proven
Every pet, regardless of species, depends on adequate rest to stay healthy and behaviorally stable, yet the path to good sleep is rarely simple. Dogs typically need around 14 hours of sleep a day (more for large breeds), cats need over 16 hours split between REM and non-REM cycles, birds require 10-12 hours of uninterrupted darkness, and even fast sleeping animals like gerbils and hamsters rely on tightly cycled two-hour rest periods. When these patterns are disrupted - by a new or uncomfortable sleeping area, household noise, insufficient exercise, or underlying discomfort - the effects show up quickly: dogs become lethargic and grumpy, cats grow restless and withdrawn, and birds can develop depression-like symptoms that affect their immune and cardiovascular systems.
Challenges Pets Face with Sleep, Stress and Relaxation
Stress compounds these sleep problems. Pets can't verbalize what's bothering them, so their distress often surfaces as behavior owners misread as misbehavior - pacing, destructive chewing, excessive vocalizing, or self soiling. Common stressors span nearly every species: travel, environmental change, new people in the home, boredom, and especially separation anxiety, which appears across dogs, cats, birds, and beyond whenever an owner leaves. Loud, sudden noise is one of the most universal triggers - thunderstorms, fireworks, construction, or even a vacuum cleaner can send an animal into a fear response, and unlike humans, pets don't have the reasoning ability to conclude "this noise isn't a threat.”
How Sound Oasis Can Help
This is where calming sound and music become a genuinely useful, low-risk tool. The logic is straightforward: since loud, unpredictable noise is often the root cause of stress and poor sleep, introducing steady, soothing sound can create an auditory "buffer" that masks disruptive noises and signals safety instead of alarm. Research by Dr. Deborah Wells and composer/scientist David Teie found that music matched to an animal's resting heart or respiratory rate is especially calming, and that slow, sustained (legato) tones at lower frequencies soothe animals far more effectively than fast, percussive, or loud music. Dogs listening to classical music, for instance, rested more and vocalized less than those exposed to heavy metal or silence.
Different species respond to different acoustic cues, which is why tailored sound therapy from Sound Oasis works better than generic background noise. Dogs tend to prefer simple, low-frequency compositions without complex instrumentation - pieces resembling Bach, Debussy, or Vivaldi rather than heavily arranged music. Cats respond specifically to sounds resembling their own communication, like purring or gentle chirping, since this taps into familiar, safety-associated signals from kittenhood. Birds are drawn to natural ambient sounds - rain, water, insect and bird chatter - that mimic their wild habitat, while gerbils favor slow, quiet instrumental piano. Across nearly all species, a simple heartbeat track taps into something even more fundamental: the rhythmic, inherently reassuring pulse every animal (and human) experienced in the womb.
Practically, the sound therapy provided by the Sound Oasis BST-80-20P addresses multiple problems at once.
• For everyday sleep struggles, it helps pets relax and drift off, whether at bedtime or during a stressful day home alone.
• For noise phobia specifically, playing calming sound at sufficient volume can drown out the frightening trigger - thunder, fireworks, construction - replacing a threat cue with a comforting one.
• Because sound therapy has no side effects, no risk of altering an animal's personality, and no medical oversight required, it's a solution owners can start using immediately, whether at home, during travel, in a new environment, or in higher-stress settings like shelters and veterinary offices.
The Sound Oasis Pet Sound Therapy System BST-80-20P was developed with the assistance of Dr. Lee Bartel, a world renowned music composer and music medicine expert with a history of award winning pet albums. Dr. Bartel’s research helped us assemble ready-made, species-considerate tracks - offering a consistent, portable way to give pets the auditory environment they're biologically wired to find calming.

Sleep Solutions
- 7–9 hrs - quality sleep adults need each night
- 3–5 cycles - sleep stages the body moves through nightly
- 30+ years - Sound Oasis sleep experience
Challenges People Face with Sleep
Sleep is one of the body's most fundamental needs, yet it remains one of the hardest things for many people to get right. Adults need roughly 7 to 9 hours of quality sleep each night, cycling through multiple stages - light sleep, deep (slow-wave) sleep, and REM sleep - three to five times over the course of the night. Each stage serves a distinct purpose: deep sleep triggers growth hormone release that repairs muscles, tissues, and the immune system, while REM sleep is when the brain actively processes memories and dreams occur. Meanwhile, the brain uses sleep to physically clear out waste products via cerebrospinal fluid - a cleaning process that simply doesn't happen while we're awake. When any of these stages gets shortchanged, the effects ripple outward: people wake up groggy, unfocused, and running on empty rather than restored.
The reasons people struggle to fall or stay asleep are wide ranging and often stack on top of each other. Stress and anxious rumination are among the most common culprits - worry makes it harder for the body to downshift into rest. Physical factors matter just as much: insufficient exercise during the day, heavy meals or caffeine and alcohol too close to bedtime, an overly warm bedroom, or a mattress that isn't comfortable can all interfere with the body's ability to relax. Modern habits compound this - screen time right before bed exposes the eyes to exceptionally bright blue light that suppresses melatonin, the hormone responsible for making us feel drowsy, while a lack of natural daylight exposure during waking hours throws off the sleep-wake cycle entirely. Environmental noise is another major disruptor - anything from a neighbor's dog to a partner's snoring can pull someone out of deep sleep or prevent them from reaching it in the first place.
The consequences of chronic sleep deprivation go well beyond feeling tired. Inadequate sleep weakens the immune system, leaving the body more vulnerable to illness, and it has been linked to greater risk of heart disease, stroke, adult-onset diabetes, and even certain cancers. It impairs cognitive function - decision-making, reasoning, and memory all suffer - and increases the likelihood of accidents. It also disrupts mood regulation and metabolism, making a person more prone to both irritability and unwanted weight gain. Because sleep debt compounds over time, occasional poor nights can turn into a persistent cycle that's difficult to break without deliberately changing habits or environment.
How Sound Oasis Can Help
Sound Oasis offers a multitude of products proven to help people sleep. We have been a leader in sleep for over 30 years and we are passionate about helping you sleep better, feel better and live better. Sound and music create the auditory conditions the brain needs to downshift from a stressed, alert state into a relaxed one. Since the body responds physically to vibration and rhythm, a soothing sound environment can lower heart rate, ease stress, and reduce the perception of pain - all of which make falling asleep considerably easier. Perhaps most practically, sound machines create a steady auditory "barrier" that masks disruptive environmental noise. A neighbor's barking dog, a partner's snoring, or street sounds outside are common reasons people wake up mid-cycle or struggle to fall asleep at all; layering in consistent natural, mechanical, or synthetic sound (rain, a fan, white noise) gives the brain something calm and predictable to settle into instead.
Sound therapy also plays a distinct and critical role for people dealing with tinnitus, since ringing in the ears often sounds louder in a silent bedroom at night. A soothing background sound gives the brain something more pleasant to focus on, and in some cases can even mask the tinnitus by matching its frequency. Beyond the noise-blocking function, simply having a consistent sound to associate with bedtime - the same track, the same ambient loop - helps condition the brain to recognize "this sound means it's time to sleep," reinforcing exactly the kind of consistent routine that's central to healthy sleep habits.
Vibroacoustic Therapy
How Vibroacoustic Therapy Can Help You
Vibroacoustic therapy (VAT) works by translating low-frequency sound into physical vibration that the body can feel directly, rather than just hear. This matters because the brain and body respond measurably to rhythmic vibration in ways that go beyond ordinary relaxation and massage - vibroacoustic stimulation has been clinically studied to improve circulation, decrease pain, increase mobility, lower blood pressure, and reduce stress and anxiety at the cellular level. Because the
vibration is delivered directly to the cells and tissues of the body rather than solely through the ears, it can achieve results that music alone cannot - improving digestion, easing Parkinson's symptoms, supporting stroke and brain injury recovery, and relieving conditions like fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis discomfort.
A key mechanism behind VAT is brainwave entrainment - the practice of using specific vibration and sound frequencies to encourage the brain's neurons to synchronize their firing rate toward a target state. A healthy brain naturally cycles through different rhythmic patterns depending on what it's doing: slow delta waves during deep sleep, alpha waves during relaxed wakefulness, and faster gamma waves during focused attention and memory tasks. Many neurological and mood conditions - Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, depression, fibromyalgia - are associated with disruptions to these rhythms or to the neural circuits connecting different brain regions. By pulsing vibration and sound at carefully chosen frequencies (such as 40Hz for gamma-related conditions, or lower frequencies for relaxation and sleep), vibroacoustic therapy can help nudge the brain back toward healthier patterns of activity and improve the communication between brain regions responsible for movement, mood, memory, and sensory processing.
Because vibroacoustic therapy works at both a cellular and cognitive level simultaneously, it offers a unique combination of benefits: the vibration stimulates blood vessel linings and tissue directly, while the accompanying music (when used) engages memory, learned associations, and cultural perceptions of calm or energy - reinforcing the physiological effect with a psychological one. This dual mechanism is part of the reason that interest in VAT has grown so dramatically and is now used
by healthcare facilities, clinics, spas, massage therapists and schools around the world.
How the Sound Oasis VTS-2000 Delivers Vibroacoustic Therapy
The Sound Oasis VTS-2000 is a portable back support system that packages this science into an accessible, at-home/at-clinic format. It combines three core components: a low-frequency generator that produces specially tuned vibrations felt throughout the back and body, stereo audio speakers that deliver soothing sound and music engineered for brainwave entrainment, and a backlit remote control loaded with 12 doctor developed sound tracks - organized into Relax, Energize, Stress Relief, and Sleep Preparation categories - for a full 60 minutes of professional-grade therapy.
Developed in conjunction with Dr. Lee Bartel, a world-renowned vibroacoustic and music medicine expert, each track is built with careful attention to the timing, pitch, and frequency of the vibration and sound so that it nudges the brain toward the intended therapeutic state, whether that's the delta frequencies that support sleep or the gamma-range 40Hz stimulation associated with cognitive and neurological benefit.
What sets the VTS-2000 apart is its flexibility across conditions and use cases. The system's programs are backed by specific, research-informed protocols: the Energize track's 40Hz vibration is recommended for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, fibromyalgia, and depression; lower 33Hz stimulation supports Parkinson's-related
movement circuits; and dedicated Sleep and Relax tracks are tuned for insomnia and stress relief, with guidance on when in the day to use them, how long, and at what intensity for best effect.
You can adjust vibration intensity and music volume independently - since for some conditions like Alzheimer's or Parkinson's the vibration itself is the active ingredient and music can be turned off entirely, while for others like depression, the music and binaural stimulation are just as important as the vibration.
Built-in Bluetooth connectivity extends effectiveness even further, letting you stream your own music library or download specialized research-study tracks directly from Sound Oasis for even more targeted therapy.
The VTS-2000 is ideal for your favorite chair at home or in the office, and it can even be used on top of a bed. The VTS-2000 includes a global power adapter for worldwide use.
The VTS-2000 finally makes clinically-grounded vibroacoustic therapy something you can build into a regular, sustainable routine rather than something limited to a clinical setting. See “Vibroacoustic Therapy" for our line.
